According to the General Department of Forestry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development - MARD), within just five years (2012–2017), 89% of natural forest loss resulted from land-use conversion for approved projects, while illegal deforestation accounted for the remaining 11%.
From 2002 to 2022, Vietnam lost 740,000 hectares of primary forest, making up 22% of total forest loss during this period. The country's primary forest area has decreased by 11% over these two decades.
In 2022 alone, Vietnam lost 120,000 hectares of natural forest, leading to 66.6 million tons of CO₂ emissions.

Reforestation at Thac Ba – Nui Ong, Binh Thuan.
Vietnam’s forests are facing severe challenges that require strong collective efforts from the government, organizations, businesses, and individuals alike.
Recognizing this urgency, Gloton, with its mission of sustainable development
"Providing a diverse ecosystem of high-quality, eco-friendly, and practical products and services in the event decoration industry"—
has actively participated in environmental protection projects, particularly the "Forest Garden" initiative by Joy Foundation.
Director of Nui Ong Nature Reserve & Founder of Joy Foundation.
The project is implemented directly in degraded and impoverished forests, as well as reclaimed forest land previously encroached upon.
Various native tree species are interplanted, with a spacing of 4 meters between each tree and planting hole dimensions of 40 x 40 cm.
After planting, the trees will be regularly monitored through the collaboration of JOY personnel, local forest management authorities, and forestry experts to ensure proper care and track growth progress.
In case of tree loss, the project will identify the cause and implement a replanting strategy as needed.
Sponsoring organizations, individuals, volunteers, and local personnel directly participate in tree planting and jointly oversee project activities.
1,000 trees were newly planted during the trip, bringing a hopeful green transformation to barren lands and creating a future sanctuary for wildlife.
It was a meaningful reforestation journey—not only an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge but also a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect the environment.
Contributing to reforestation is not just an act of environmental protection, but also an investment in the future. Every tree planted today helps create a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable planet for future generations.
A heartfelt thank you to Joy Foundation for organizing a reforestation trip filled with smiles and hope for a greener future!
